A Secure Dwelling

One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek:

That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life,

To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple.

Ps 27:4

Many times we expect our job, home, wealth, relationships and other things we have acquired or have access to will provide security throughout our life. All of these things provide a level of comfort and peace that without them most of us would live in a state of worry, anxiety, and fear. I believe it is wise and necessary to prepare for the essentials of life on earth. I also believe we should enjoy the blessings of hard work, while being a good steward of what we have attained, and the favor of God. However, if we are not careful, our desire to acquire things and status that provide pleasure and comfort will exceed our desire for that secure dwelling place which is only found in Christ Jesus.  What we desire directs our thoughts and our thoughts drive our behaviors. Therefore, above all else, begin to desire and long for the presence of Almighty God. As we long for and dwell in His presence, we will begin to desire what He desires for us. Then as we continuously seek Him, we progressively desire to dwell in the beauty of His security where we have everything we need for “life and godliness” along with the promise of eternal life. We live in a noisy and sometimes contemptuous world, but In-Christ we escape the obscurity of uncertainty as we seek to remain in His secure dwelling!
