Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
John 15:2
Growing up there was a popular nursery rhyme poem that ask the question, ” what are little boys made of”, and the answer was , snips, snails and puppy dog tails, and same was asked about girls and we would say , with sugar and spice and everything nice”. When life begins we are like pieces of clay needing to be molded, shaped and poured into. As we are molded, shaped and poured into, the picture of who and what we are becoming, starts to be clear. We have likes and dislikes that are shaped by our surroundings. We have dreams and desires built from things we see and people that we watch, whether it be on tv or in life. We aspire to be who and what we watch. The same is true of God, when He created us in his image, he put things in us that if cultivated, grow and help develop the who and what of each of us. Which brings us to the pruning, as we grow, we pick up habits, people and characteristics that are not beneficial to growing in the image of God. So as we grow in Him and he grows in us, Jesus waters, fertilizes and prunes, (cut things off that are hindering our growth) as needed to grow and bear fruit that will not only be beneficial to us , but to the ones that will come behind us. #Blessings
